How we talk about our needs
Mostly, our conversations about our needs are arguments. And, not very informed. Our needs have never been well explained. Mostly, they’ve been expressed in arguments that are rejected because we are in argument mode, not hearing mode.
This is a failing strategy as we all well know. What about if we shared a common language, one that we all understood and held to be true and expressive of our common experience?
It seems plausible that if we actually talk about our most basic needs, rather than expressing them through our frustration, we might find a common ground. A shared experience in our anxiety. One that can be understood by all, as we all share this common ground and yet express it in such different ways.
Find out how you express yourself and how people around you express their needs. It will change your experience of your relationships for the better.
